I recently got an email newsletter from a friend with the subject line: WOW! Naturally, I had to read further to find out what the WOW was about. I loved that she started off with something short, enthusiastic, intriguing and easy to understand. I know what WOW means, I know what it feels like, I appreciate being in the presence of WOW energy and I am often looking for experiences and ideas that give me that whoosh of energy.
You may be reading this thinking I’m a little nutty talking about WOW! Before you write me off, consider this: ALL OF US HAVE AN IMPACT. ON OTHERS. That impact can come from one little word or gesture or idea or smile or frown or an action that we took, a skill we used, a question we asked and on and on. We can have a WOW impact in a small way and a big way. For me, the impact of her newsletter subject line was immediate and delightful. And it worked to get me wanting to learn more about what had her saying WOW.
Before I tell you the reason for her WOW, let’s get back to the topic of IMPACT. If you are a job seeker or entrepreneur, than it’s important to develop the skill of talking about our impact. That means being able to tell stories about what you have done, results you have delivered, pains you have healed, joints you have loosened, motivation you have inspired, teams you have coalesced. Talking about your impact is more than talking about the results; it’s about talking with positive, sparkling, confident energy and speaking clearly and concisely. When you talk about your impact others should be able to feel the whoosh of excitement and delight that you feel as you recount the story.
What was the WOW my friend wrote of in her newsletter? The answer: a very simple movement and sounding she does in the morning when I get up and also when I come into my office to prepare myself to see her clients. The practice changed her mood for the better and it can positively alter yours as well. Learn more at https://www.sarasunstein.com/15-45-seconds-to-start-your-day-right/
